McWilliam’s Flagship 1877 Hilltops Shiraz 2014 – 96 points

The icon wine of the large vineyard in the Hilltops region. Elegant and medium-bodied, it’s freshness and vibrant red and black fruits are couched in quality oak and finely detailed tannins. Its balance means it can be enjoyed young, matured or aged.

McWilliam’s Flagship 842 Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2014 – 95 points

Pale straw-green; an aristocratic chardonnay, if there can be such a thing; complex, yet fruit-driven, bright acidity; enviable length and purity.

McWilliam’s Single Vineyard Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2013 – 94 points

A wine of youth and integrity; the flavours feel as if they have been carved from the fruit by a surgeon with a fine scalpel and no pressure. The oak is entirely sympathetic to the fruit, the acidity; enviable length and purity.

McWilliam’s Single Vineyard Hilltops Shiraz 2014 – 94 points

The deep colour signals a wine with power and complexity; the bouquet is both spicy and savoury, black fruits dripping from every bower of the tree, precision-shaped tannins and quality oak perfectly matched.

McWilliam’s Appellation Tumbarumba Pinot Noir 2014 – 93 points

Its vibrancy and freshness point to its cool climate origin, and to a deliberate choice to pick before there was any loss of bright red fruit flavours and good acidity; French oak has been held in appropriate restraint. Best enjoyed young.

McWilliam’s Appellation Hilltops Shiraz 2014 – 93 points

You certainly get your money’s worth here. Brightly coloured, it has a pleasantly spicy bouquet leading to a light to medium-bodied palate of red and black fruits, a little more spice, a flirt with French oak, and fine tannins to close.
