Australian First Families of Wine UNLOCKED

Australian First Families of Wine UNLOCKED

by Harriet Moore, 30 July 2014

Australia’s First Families of Wine are twelve of the leading family owned wineries, producing many of this country’s finest and most iconic wines, including many in the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine VI.

The event will begin with a flagship masterclass led by the head of each of the 12 families, who will share a hand-selected museum wine from their cellars. Hear Ross Brown, Colin Campbell, Chester Osborn, Darren DeBortoli, Stephen Henschke, Jeff Burch, Peter Barry, Doug McWilliam, Alister Purbrick, Mitchell Taylor, Bruce Tyrrell and Robert Hill Smith share their stories, present their special wine and give you a snapshot of their family history. With back-vintages of wines like Henschke Hill of Grace, Jim Barry the Armagh, Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne and DeBortoli Noble One this will be a masterclass to remember!

Following the flagship masterclass, the Next Generation of the twelve families will then showcase their most exciting new direction wines, matched with grazing dishes designed by Carousel’s Executive Chef Yvan Meunier, giving you the opportunity to sip, savour and network with some of the biggest names and future leaders on the Australian wine landscape.

With a member of each of the twelve families who make up AFFW represented at the tasting, this is your opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the most famous names in Australian wine.
